The Ancient Temple’s Story: A 3D Mapping Extravaganza

The audience was immersed in a captivating light show that brought to life the country’s rich heritage and cultural legacy. The show, a creative and emotional retelling of the historical tale of the Van Mieu (Temple of Literature), offered a unique and memorable experience.

To enhance the impact, a 3D mapping film, “Historical Books in Stone,” was presented at the Temple of Literature on the evening of November 28. This film served as a powerful visual aid, highlighting the cultural and historical significance of the temple’s unique national relic.

At the heart of the show was the journey of a tortoise, symbolizing knowledge and wisdom, in search of the hidden values and stories engraved on the 82 doctorate steles. As the tortoise delved deeper, it discovered that each stele held a unique tale about the exams and the scholars who had achieved academic excellence.

Intrigued by the stories, the tortoise sought guidance from a teacher to prepare for the exams. With dedication and perseverance, it received a book as a token of knowledge. However, on its way back, a sudden storm struck, scattering the pages of the book. As the tortoise frantically gathered the sheets, it found that the content mirrored the inscriptions on the doctor’s stele. Just as it was about to celebrate, a mystical light transformed the book into a rough rock, leaving the tortoise perplexed once again.

Amidst the confusion, a group of woodpeckers descended, gracefully settling on the rock. Their rhythmic tapping, like a harmonious melody, transformed each woodpecker into a stone-carving hand, crafting a complete Doctor’s stele. The turtle, overcome with joy, embraced the stele as if it were a treasure, while other turtles joined in celebration, carrying their own steles. In a display of unity and triumph, they tossed the steles in the air, eventually transforming into stones themselves.

Le Xuan Kieu, Director of the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature, interprets the story as an invitation for visitors to delve into the significance of the Thang Long Doctoral Stelae. These steles, akin to stone history books, honor the academic achievements and intellectual prowess of Vietnam’s scholarly tradition.

“Our team is dedicated to continuously researching and developing innovative tourist activities that showcase the Temple of Literature’s value,” shared Kieu. “We strive to present and promote our heritage in unique and creative ways, always utilizing technology while preserving the integrity of our cultural treasures.”
