SATTE 2024: Da Nang’s Allure Captivates Indian Travelers

The Da Nang Department of Tourism is showcasing the city’s tourism at the South Asia’s Travel and Tourism Exchange (SATTE) 2024 in India from February 22 to 24, according to Da Nang Today, citing the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Centre.

SATTE 2024 is being held at India Expo Mart Exhibition Center, Greater Noida, organized by Informa Markets and is considered the largest fair in South Asia.

This year’s event has attracted over 48,000 attendees, 1,800 exhibitors, and more than 800 international and domestic Indian buyers.

This is Da Nang’s second participation in the event with the aim of promoting its tourism image to the potential Indian market.

The Da Nang FantastiCity booth of the Da Nang Department of Tourism covers an area of 70 square meters with the participation of nearly 20 tourism businesses in Da Nang, and Vietnam in general, nearly doubling the booth size (1.6 times) in comparison to 2023.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Vietnamese booths at the fair, Vietnamese Ambassador to India Nguyen Thanh Hai pledged continued support for localities and enterprises to promote Vietnam’s image in general and tourism products in particular as well as activities to promote Vietnam-India socio-economic development cooperation.

India is now the fourth biggest foreign tourism market for Da Nang city. The number of Indian tourists to the city accounts for 60% of the total number of Indian tourists to Vietnam.

Meanwhile, Vietnam Airlines aims to achieve revenue of USD 40 million in the Indian market in 2024. It operates 14 direct flights per week between Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City and the Indian cities of New Delhi and Mumbai.

Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism, Nguyen Thi Hoai An, said, “India is one of the emerging tourism markets for Da Nang during the tourism recovery period and is forecasted to continue growing over time. We hope that the Da Nang tourism booth at the SATTE Fair 2024 will enhance destination recognition and establish closer and more frequent connections with tourism partners.”

According to An, the attractiveness and trends of the Da Nang destination continue to be promoted through great efforts made by the city’s tourism industry at the SATTE fair as well as many other promotion and advertising activities in this foreign market, especially targeting MICE (Meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions), golf, and wedding tourism.

In 2023, the Indian market will rank 4th in the top 10 international tourist source markets for Da Nang, behind the Republic of Korea, Thailand, and China. The total number of Indian visitors to Da Nang in 2023 is expected to exceed 87,000 visitors, an increase of more than 5 times compared to 2019.

Several activities took place at the Da Nang booth during the event, such as traditional ‘ao dai’ (traditional Vietnamese costume) performances, Vietnamese coffee experiences, lucky draws, and photo-taking for souvenirs (organized at fixed time frames) to attract more visitors.

Also at the SATTE 2024 event, Da Nang is engaging with airlines to strengthen partnerships and promote the opening of more direct flights from India to Da Nang. At the same time, the tourism industry is meeting with wedding tourism organizations and wedding event organizers to launch wedding tourism in Da Nang in 2024.
