The new MICHELIN Selected restaurants in Hanoi showcase the city’s diverse culinary landscape. Banh Cuon Ba Hoanh, or Mrs. Hoanh’s Banh Cuon, delights diners with its simple yet mouthwatering banh cuon. Hanoi Garden offers a unique blend of classic and contemporary Vietnamese dishes, while Le Beaulieu transports diners to France with its exquisite cuisine and extensive wine list.
In Ho Chi Minh City, the guide recognizes Du Yen, a haven for vegetarian cuisine, Kobe Bistro, which showcases the best of French fare, and Oryz, a restaurant with an Eastern Asian dining concept inspired by the rich culinary traditions of Asia.
When in Hanoi, trying banh cuon is a must. This affordable delicacy is a favorite among locals for breakfast or a late-night supper. For just VND35,000 (US$1.5), you can indulge in Mrs. Hoanh’s steamed rice crepe with slices of cha lua at her restaurants located at 37 & 66 To Hien Thanh Street, Hai Ba Trung District. Open daily from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm, it’s the perfect spot to start your day or satisfy your late-night cravings.

The 2024 MICHELIN Guide sees 33 dining establishments in Hanoi make the cut, out of a total of 99 restaurants in the MICHELIN Selected category across Vietnam. These restaurants are recognized for their potential to earn a coveted MICHELIN Star or Bib Gourmand status.
Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN guides, highlights the unique characteristics of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Danang’s culinary scenes. “Vietnam’s culinary landscape continues to thrive, fueled by the passion and creativity of its chefs,” he says. “The country is attracting renowned chefs and fostering a new generation of Vietnamese talent, solidifying its place as a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts.”

The MICHELIN Guide also shines a spotlight on exceptional restaurants, with three new additions to the One MICHELIN Star list. Akuna in Ho Chi Minh City fuses creative European dishes with Vietnamese influences and optional wine pairings. La Maison 1888 in Da Nang presents an exquisite 5 or 7-course menu featuring the finest ingredients from Vietnam, France, and Japan. The Royal Pavilion in Ho Chi Minh City takes diners on a culinary journey through Canton, offering a la carte and set menus that honor the region’s culinary heritage, along with a dim sum menu available exclusively at lunchtime.
A standout among the recipients is Nen Da Nang, the first restaurant in Vietnam to be awarded the MICHELIN Green Star. Nen Da Nang is committed to sustainability and sharing its journey towards a greener future. It actively engages with the media and local schools to spread the message of sustainable gastronomy and inspire the next generation.

The Bib Gourmand category has also seen significant growth, with 58 establishments making the cut this year, almost doubling last year’s count. Of the 29 new entries, 16 are from Danang, five from Hanoi, and eight from Ho Chi Minh City, showcasing the diverse and vibrant culinary offerings across Vietnam.
The MICHELIN Guide goes beyond recognizing restaurants; it also celebrates the talented individuals who contribute to the dining experience. This year, the MICHELIN Guide Young Chef Award was presented to Chef Duy Nguyen of Little Bear in Ho Chi Minh City. The Sommelier Award went to Toan Nguyen of La Maison 1888 in Danang, and the Service Award was given to Anh Nguyen of Si Dining in Danang, known for her friendly and energetic approach.
