Vietnam Spotlighted at Seoul Food 2023

Seoul Food 2023 is the largest food exhibition in Korea, with the scale of 2.500 booths from 1,500 companies of 30 countries. This year, more than 30 Vietnamese enterprises attended the exhibition, promoting key export products such as processed foods, agricultural products, and spices. Mai Chau Culture Resort, Grand Tourane Nha Trang Hotel, and Ambassador Cruise Restaurants are several brands among the finalists of the Asia Architecture Design Awards 2023 (AADA). US aids Vietnam in preserving Nguyen Dynasty woodblocks

Commencing in July 2020, the project was aimed at conserving 500 deteriorated woodblock plates at the National Archives Center IV.  The initiative, which received more than US$88,000 in funding from the United States Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP), has now been completed. Da Nang International Fireworks Festival Returns After 3 Years

Photo: VNA The central city of Da Nang is finalizing preparations for the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF 2023) slated for June 2. Currently, the stage for the festival has basically been completed, said Tran Xuan Hung, leader of the DIFF 2023 stage construction team. He said that the construction has taken place for over 2 months, a shorter time compared to previous festivals. This year, the stage is decorated with a modern led laser lighting system, bringing the best views of the entire fireworks area, he said. This year, the DIFF stage covers1,050 sq.m on the Han River bank on Tran Hung Dao street of Son Tra district, along with a 5,000-seat grandstand. Vietnam to have first virtual reality light park

The park will be situated in a 60,000-square-meter ancient pine forest in a tourist area in the district. Ho Chi Minh City-based travel company Ben Thanh Tourist signed a memorandum of understanding for the construction of the park with two South Korean partners on Tuesday. The unique park is aimed at making tourism products in Da Nang, which is one of Vietnam’s popular destinations, more abundant. The digital tourism product, with light performances using Newto Company’s virtual reality technology, will bring new experiences and exciting entertainment activities to visitors. Nguyen Xuan Binh, deputy director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, said that the park would help lure more tourists to the coastal city. “The virtual reality light theme park will contribute to diversifying tourism products and driving up the city’s tourism, which is back on track after the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Binh. Hanoi to host Taiwan Excellence concert this weekend

The Taiwan Excellence Concert is being directed by Conductor Honna Tetsuji and is expected to entertain audiences in the capital with a colourful musical programme. Several famous works will be performed during the show, including Longing for Spring Breeze, William Tell Overture, Hungarian Rhapsody no. 2, along with popular classical works written for the orchestra. During the programme, female pianist Liao Hsin-Chiao will perform the Piano Concerto in C minor (Tyzen Hsiao). Liao Hsin-Chiao was born in Taichung and has been known by audiences and notable music critics from a very young age. She has performed at several famous music festivals such as Music@Menlo, Heifetz International Music Institute, Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival, Olympic Music Festival, and Icicle Creek Chamber Festival. Ho Chi Minh City’s Charity Group Builds Two Bridges in Ca Mau Province

Representatives of the Union of Friendship Organizations of Ca Mau Province, along with sponsors and representatives of the local government, cut the ribbon to inaugurate Long Ong Bridge. The Vong Tay Viet Nam charity group, based in Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City, in collaboration with the Union of Friendship Organizations of Ca Mau Province and the local government held the inauguration and put into use Kenh Long Ong Bridge (Tran Van Thoi District) and Ben Ma bridge (Phu Tan district). They also gave gifts to poor students in the two above-mentioned districts. The activity is part of the charity program conducted by the Vong Tay Viet Nam group. NASA Astronauts to Visit Vietnam for Space Week

Cambodia-Vietnam: A true friendship in ASEAN context

After the Khmer Empire was overthrown in the 15th century, relations between Cambodia and Vietnam have gone through many different aspects. The Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Kingdom of Cambodia established formal diplomatic relations on June 24, 1967. However, the alliance has faced many difficulties, both domestically and globally. Despite ups and downs in their relations, especially in the 1970s and 1980s, Cambodia and Vietnam have been able to maintain friendly relations over the past 40 years. In describing their current relationship, both nations often use phrases such as “excellent neighborliness, traditional friendliness, comprehensive cooperation, and long-lasting stability.” In 1999, when Vietnam held the ASEAN Chair, Cambodia was welcomed as the last member of the organization. Vietnam is the featured country at the 14th Asian Festival of Children’s Content (AFCC) in Singapore, as Vietnamese literature is in focus. Through various activities such as seminars, exhibitions, and book presentations, Vietnam has contributed to the success of AFCC 2023. That was shared by Claire Chiang, chairwoman of the Singapore Book Council – organizer of the AFCC 2023, when the event wrapped up on May 27.  Claire Chiang expressed her appreciation for the Vietnamese delegation’s active participation by hosting various activities. Vietnamese Scientist in UK Inspires Scientific Passion for Children

Photo: Vietnam+ Nguyen Thi Kim Thanh, a Vietnamese professor at University College London (UCL), who won many prestigious international awards for her scientific research, says she hopes to inspire students, especially the disadvantaged in London, to pursue their passion for scientific study, VNA reported. In 2019, Thanh was awarded the prestigious Royal Society Rosalind Franklin Medal by the Commonwealth Academy of Sciences for her research achievements in the field of nanomaterials for biomedicine. She used the prize money to organise a science camp in Wiltshire region of the UK to inspire high school 8th – 10th grade students to perform scientific research.
